About Colony.care
Built by researchers who understand the challenges of lab animal management

Our Mission
Colony.care exists to solve a problem researchers kept running into: managing laboratory animal colonies shouldn't mean juggling spreadsheets, paper records, and outdated software.
We believe researchers should spend their time on groundbreaking science, not on administrative overhead. That's why we built a modern, intuitive platform that makes colony management effortless.
Our Values
Research-First
Every feature is designed with the research workflow in mind, built by people who've worked in the lab.
Team Collaboration
Science is a team effort. Everyone in your lab works from the same records, with the access their role needs.
Animal Welfare
Better management means better care. We help you maintain the highest standards of animal welfare.
Our Story
Colony.care was born out of frustration with existing solutions, tools that were either too complex, too expensive, or simply not designed for modern research workflows.
So we built it hand in hand with researchers, shaped by their real day-to-day usage and their immediate feedback rather than by guesswork about what a lab needs.
Starting with a simple breeding tracker, the platform grew into a comprehensive system that handles everything from cage management to per diem billing, every feature tested against how researchers actually work.
Some of the researchers who helped build Colony.care in those early days are now part of the company. We're building the platform we always wished existed, modern, intuitive, and accessible to labs of every size.
The people we build for
Everything we ship is measured against their Monday morning.
Technicians
You're at the rack before the building fills up, counting pups onto a clipboard, then typing that same count into a spreadsheet at lunch. Colony.care is aimed squarely at the second half of that job.
Principal investigators
You want to know what your colony actually did last quarter without asking three people and reconciling their answers. Every animal carries its own history, so the question has one answer.
Facility managers
You're accountable for per diem, protocol expiry and welfare checks across teams who each track things their own way. One system, one audit trail, and month-end that doesn't eat a week.
